Baulkham Hills Early Learning Centre is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and organised Kitchen Hand to support our Cook in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

This is an important role within our service, helping to ensure children receive nutritious meals prepared in a hygienic and well‑organised kitchen. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working as part of a team, and has a strong commitment to cleanliness and food safety.

About the Role

- Working alongside our Cook, you will assist with a range of kitchen and cleaning duties, including:
- Assisting with daily kitchen operations as directed by the Cook.
- Checking, cleaning, and replenishing fruit, vegetable, and cereal storage containers.
- Maintaining a clean and organised pantry and food storage areas.
- Assisting with stock rotation and safe food storage practices.

Cleaning & Hygiene

- Cleaning and sanitising kitchen surfaces, equipment, and appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and trolleys.
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen and food preparation areas.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the dishwasher area and minimising slip hazards.
- Cleaning and sanitising bins, cupboards, drawers, and storage areas.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of refrigerators and storage tubs in external storage areas.

Stock & Supplies

- Monitoring and replenishing kitchen consumables such as gloves, paper towels, and cleaning products.
- Reporting low stock levels to the Cook or management team.

General Duties





- Adhering to all food safety, health and hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation throughout the kitchen and food service areas.
- Undertaking other duties as directed by the Cook or management that are consistent with the role.
- Removing rubbish and recycling daily.

About You

- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (desirable).
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to undertake physically active duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A current Working With Children Check - or be willing to attain this.
- Current Mandatory Child Safety Training - or be willing to attain this.
