Customs Co-ordinator - Spider is recruiting on behalf of a growing and forward-thinking freight forwarding and logistics business for a Customs Co-ordinator to join their team based in Little Blakenham, Suffolk on a full time, permanent basis.

About the role:
As a Customs Co-ordinator, you will work closely with HMRC, port health, ports, carriers, overseas agents, and the wider operations team, ensuring customs declarations are completed accurately, compliantly, and on time while delivering an excellent level of customer service. Focusing on UK import and export customs clearances for both sea and road freight, offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop your customs knowledge across a wide range of industries and commodities.
This role would suit someone who already has hands‑on customs clearance experience and is ready to broaden their knowledge, take ownership of their work, and grow within a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepared and submitted UK import and export customs declarations, including CHED-P documentation for port health, covering both sea and road freight.
- Ensured customs entries, commercial invoices, and shipping documentation complied with HMRC legislation and customs regulations.
- Liaised with customers, ports, port health authorities, carriers, shipping lines, overseas agents, and HMRC to obtain information and facilitate customs clearance.
- Monitored customs clearances,
proactively resolving issues to prevent delays and providing customers with customs guidance and support.
- Maintained accurate customs records and documentation while keeping up to date with changes in HMRC legislation, customs procedures, and government systems.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have at least one year's experience within customs clearance and UK import and export customs declarations and CHED-P port health. You will be organised, proactive and comfortable working in a busy environment. A good understanding of UK customs procedures and HMRC requirements would be advantageous. You will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy with a customer focused approach. A natural problem-solver who takes ownership of their work and is comfortable managing multiple declarations and competing priorities.
