Gaythorne Community Kindergarten is looking for a Certificate III or Diploma-qualified Assistant Educator to work in our Pre-Kindy room, which caters for children aged 2-4 years of age. The Assistant Educator will support the Room Leader in the implementation and documentation of the learning program, placing emphasis on play-based and child-led learning, and prioritising child safety at all times.

The role is a part time position, with hours negotiable for the right candidate. It is available to start from the 7th of September.

Ideal candidates will have:

- A Certificate III or Diploma qualification in Early Childhood.
- Current First Aid Qualifications including CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis or willingness to obtain
- Current paid Blue Card or Exemption Card, and completed Child Safety Training
- Understanding of the Assessment and Planning Cycle, and experience in writing documentation linked to the Early Years Learning Framework
- The ability to work autonomously and take initiative within the room, implementing activities and contributing to the program
- An understanding of inclusion, the varying needs of children, and ways to support these needs
- Flexibility and responsiveness in their approach to children and to Early Childhood Education
- Highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills, collaborating with people of various ages, social and cultural backgrounds
- The ability to foster a sense of community, contributing to a respectful,



child-safe and culturally-safe environment

About Gaythorne Community Kindergarten

Gaythorne Community Kindergarten is a unique service, managed by a Parent Management Committee and affiliated with C&K.; We are a community based not-for-profit kindergarten, with two separate rooms. One space has a traditional Kindy programme operating two 5 day fortnight groups. The other space is our Pre Kindy room where children are aged from 2 through to 4 years.

Our licensed hours are 7.15am - 4.45pm, 5 days a week, 48 weeks of the year. We close for four weeks over the Christmas period. Our core hours are 8.30am - 2.30pm but we also offer a Before and After Hours Care option to all children enrolled at the kindergarten.

We are located in a quiet pocket of Gaythorne on the border of the Gallipoli Army Barracks. Our centre has that old school feel, with a large, mostly natural playground with mango trees providing us with magnificent shade. Our rooms are well-resourced, spacious and provide plenty of opportunities for learning, but most importantly, fun.

If successful in this role, you will have the full support of an off-the-floor, full-time Director, the Educational Leader and the current Pre-Kindy Room Leader. We pride ourselves on our sense of community amongst staff and the support we provide each other. We are looking for someone who can fit into and add value to our already established team.
