Job Description for Sr Solution Designer in Sydney

Responsibilities

- The SD should have a very strong understanding of and experience in the development of enterprise applications (preferably in Java or JavaScript/Node.js).
- The SD should understand telecommunication principles such as Switching, Routing, Addressing, OSI Layers and Protocols (IP, TCP/IP), and the different types of Network Layers: Access, Distribution and Core.
- Provide technical leadership on projects, guiding developers, performing code reviews, and ensuring the quality of solutions being implemented. (Project-level responsibility may vary by assignment.)
- Have a key understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns, Messaging systems, rules and business process engines, and application server technologies such as JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere.
- Familiar with modern web application frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, and technologies such as REST and SOAP.
- Work with Project Managers, Business Analysts, other Solution Designers & Architects to deliver large projects.
- Provide input into Architecture roadmaps, working with IT and Networks Architects and Solution Designers.
- Define the testing scope and strategy. Review documents, verify test cases and results, and support automation of testing by the development team to improve overall quality of systems/code.




- Provide technical expertise to support OSS services and liaise with vendors regarding problems and future enhancements. Provide support to OSS Operations during major incidents.

Qualifications

- Robust understanding of enterprise application development (preferably Java or JavaScript/Node.js).
- Understanding of telecommunication principles (Switching, Routing, Addressing, OSI Layers and Protocols) and network layers (Access, Distribution, Core).
- Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies such as PMP or Prince2 (optional).
- Experience providing technical leadership on projects and performing code reviews (optional).
- Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns, Messaging systems, rules and business process engines, and application server technologies (e.g., JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere).
- Experience with modern web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) and REST/SOAP.
- Ability to collaborate with Project Managers, BAs, other Solution Designers & Architects on large projects.
- Ability to contribute to architecture roadmaps and work with IT and Networks architects.
- Ability to define testing scope, review test cases/results, and promote test automation to improve quality.
- Willingness to provide OSS technical support and liaise with vendors; support OSS Operations during major incidents.
