Build a career that grows with the community

Get a behind-the-scenes look at how local government works while building practical workplace skills. As a Business Administration Trainee, you support a busy Council team while completing a Certificate III in Business through a Registered Training Organisation. You work with internal and external customers, learn how Council services operate, and build a strong foundation for a career in administration and business services.

You provide day-to-day administrative support to your placement area. You answer phones, respond to enquiries, prepare documents and presentations, coordinate meetings, maintain records, manage data entry and support team projects. You gather accurate information, pass on messages, organise correspondence and help ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Your work helps teams operate efficiently and deliver services to the community. By maintaining accurate records, providing customer service and supporting business processes, you contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of Council and the delivery of services residents rely on.

This is a paid 12-month traineeship combining practical workplace experience with nationally recognised training. You attend TAFE 1 day per week and spend the remaining 4 days gaining hands‑on experience in the workplace.

This opportunity suits someone who is motivated to learn, communicates well,

enjoys working with people and pays attention to detail. If you are keen to build practical business and administration skills while gaining workplace experience, we would love to hear from you.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make excellent teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

- a term contract, full-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
- traineeship wage rates
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements

- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
