Full Time Hairdresser

Aim of Role

- The aim of this role is to ensure the business builds our revenues through customer satisfaction.
- To be responsible for customer satisfaction in relation to all aspects of hairdressing services.

The scope of this role

The person in this role is responsible for ensuring that customers’ experience of our services meets and at times surpasses their expectations. The incumbent in this role will ensure our customers have a happy experience being attended to in our salon. Over time the incumbent in this role will be expected to contribute ideas and implement innovations in order to contribute to the growth of this business. From time to time, the incumbent will help to provide on the job training to less experienced and less expert hairdressing staff.

Main duties and tasks:

- Attentively listen to the requirements of each customer to ensure they feel valued and understood
- Make suggestions and provide advice in relation to both styles and products in line with customer’s requests
- Demonstrate and sell hair care products and cosmetics
- Perform all hairdressing services as required, including but not limited to the following activities:
- Washing hair and scalp with shampoo and conditioner
- Massaging head and scalp

Key Responsibilities

- Providing hair conditioning treatments available in our salon
- Colouring, straightening and permanently waving hair with chemical solutions
- Mixing chemicals and colours to produce the correct colouring result
- Cutting hair in a variety of styles using scissors, clippers and razors
- Styling hair
- Maintain the work area in a clean, hygienic and presentable condition at all times




- Responsibility for answering the phone and taking bookings by appropriately recording these in our system
- Operating the cash register
- Maintaining and accurately recording information in relation to preferred styles and likes and dislikes of individual customers

Other duties will also include:

- Ensure all the health and safety procedures and regulations are closely followed.
- Manage time well as minimizing waiting times for our customers.
- Contribute goodwill, energy and passion to help grow and ensure the success of our business.
- Participate in helping to train less experienced staff.
- From time to time help management to supervise other hairdressers.
- Keeping abreast of new developments in hairdressing by participating in various courses offered by suppliers, attending hairdressing shows and when required external courses.
- Improving self-knowledge by keenly and enthusiastically participating in the training program provided by our salon.

Skill & Experience

Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:

- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in hairdressing is required to fulfil the duties of this role (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
- Previous commercial experience working as a hairdresser in a busy salon is required. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- High level of customer service skills.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to current situations and requirements.
- Self-confident and a team worker who wants to make a contribution to the overall success of our business.
- Good work ethic and time management skills.
- Ambitious to learnt more and progress in her/his career.
