About the Mental Health department

The divisionprovidescare and services through a comprehensive range of teams, to meet the needs of mental health consumers and carers throughout Victoria.All services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice andsupporteddecision making.

The Hospital Outreach Post-suicidalEngagement (HOPE) initiative provides tailored, holistic support to people post a suicide attempt, with the aim of supporting the person and theircarersand families toidentifyand build the protective factors that reduce the risk of suicide and/or repeated intentional self-harm.

About the role

Asa SeniorClinician you will support the person, theircarersand family inidentifyingand building protective factors that reduce the risk of suicide. Additionally, there is an opportunity tofacilitateor be part of groups with our consumers that focuses on sensory modulation strategies, building internal resilience, distress tolerance and therapeutic coping strategies.

This a varied position offering a unique opportunity toutiliseyour specialist therapeutic and risk assessment skills, network with stakeholders and carers and participate in quality improvement activities.

A regular day will see you:





- Intervene via an approach that actively engages clients in the assessment of their own risk, andthecreation of suicide prevention plansin order tominimisethe risk of future suicidalbehaviours
- Deliver a range of short-medium term therapeutic,evidence-basedinterventions in line with relevant qualifications and scope of practice.
- Deliver best practice brief therapeutic interventions designed to increase the ability to self-manage and prevent the risk of future suicide attempts
- Ensure linkage withappropriate healthpractitioners, communityservicesand recreational groups

About you

You will be someone with excellent communication,interpersonaland collaboration skills, who takes a highly compassionate approach to their work.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

- 7+years of relevant experience withan appropriate qualification
- Recent experience working with individuals in crisis and with mental health issues
- An understanding of the Area Mental Health Service and principles and practices of DHHS Recovery-Oriented Practice in Mental Health
- A current Victorian Driver’s License and the ability to drive a work vehicle
