About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Media Advisor with experience implementing socialad campaigns to join the Department of Customer Service Portfolio Social Media team in a fulltime temporary role from 2 November 2026 to 31 October 2027.

This role is 35 hours per week, based in Sydney, with a hybrid working arrangement that requires days each week working from the Haymarket office. You will work as part of a high performing and collaborative team committed to deliveringexceptional customer experience and impactful social media outcomes across NSW Government.

About the team

The Department of Customer Service Social Media team is responsible for social media plannning, content publishing, paid activity and customer support across a range of agencies, including Building Commission NSW, NSW Fair Trading and Service NSW.

As a Lead Social Media Advisor, you will play a key role within the Paid Strategy stream. You will be responsible for end-to-end ad management: developing the owned paid strategic approach, implementation, optimisations, reporting and overseeing overall ad performance. You will be implementing high quality and compliant ads or small campaigns, providing proactive recommendations and advice, and supporting the wider Portfolio communication plans.

This is a senior role that combines hands on delivery with oversight, mentoring and stakeholderengagement.



You will work closely with colleagues across the Portfolio and support continuousimprovement in social media practice.

Key responsibilities

- Act as the subject matter expert for paid social media approach across a range of agencies.
- Drive consistent, engaging and impactful social media ads across NSW Government agencies.
- End-to-end advertising management: Develop small social campaign strategies, implementations, optimisations and reporting.
- Monitor, analyse and report on paid performance to optimise future advertising outcomes.
- Provide strategic oversight of social media channels and campaigns, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and brand standards.
- Manage budgets and forecasts for social campaigns and financial reporting associated to campaign expenditure.
- Manage a small team of two coordinating workload, supervising campaign strategies, implementation, optimisations and review of reporting outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to strengthen social media capability and proactively source content from subject matter experts
- Stay informed about emerging social media trends and broader communications developments Essential skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience in a senior social media or social media management role, either in house or agency side.
- Proven experience developing campaign strategies and forecasts.
- Strong experience implementing social media campaigns across Meta ads manager, LinkedIn ads Manager and YouTube.
- Experience managing budgets and reporting on advertising expenditure.
- Robust stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical capability,



with experience translating data into actionable insights and reports.
- Hands on experience across Ads Manager and Business Suites.
- Experience using content creation tools, with Canva or Photoshop experience considered advantageous
- Experience using LookerStudio for campaign reporting.

Working arrangements

This role operates under a hybrid working model, with an expectation of working up to three days per week from the office. Flexibility is supported in line with operational requirements.
