Roberts Designs is a leading Australian wholesaler of tiling tools, trims, silicones, sealants, waterproofing products and accessories, supplying the tiling and construction industry with innovative, high-quality products.

We are looking for a motivated and organised Purchasing Officer to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with suppliers, managing purchasing requirements, coordinating overseas orders and ensuring the right stock is available at the right time.

The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining our supply chain and working closely with our overseas suppliers to ensure products are ordered, manufactured and delivered efficiently.

About the Role

Working closely with our management, sales, warehouse and customer service teams, you will be responsible for coordinating purchasing activities across our local and overseas supply network.

A key part of the role will involve liaising directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers , monitoring production and shipping timelines, negotiating where appropriate and ensuring purchasing decisions align with stock requirements and business demand.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the purchasing of products from local and overseas suppliers
- Liaise regularly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers regarding orders, production and delivery timeframes
- Prepare and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, pricing and product details




- Monitor stock levels and assist with forecasting future purchasing requirements
- Manage supplier lead times, minimum order quantities (MOQs) and batch requirements
- Track overseas orders from placement through to delivery
- Follow up suppliers regarding production delays, shipping issues and outstanding orders
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records
- Communicate expected delivery dates and stock availability to relevant internal departments
- Identify potential supply issues early and work proactively to minimise stock shortages
- Assist with supplier pricing, product costs and purchasing negotiations
- Work with management on new product sourcing and product development opportunities
- Monitor supplier performance, quality and reliability
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key overseas and local suppliers
- Assist with improving purchasing processes and supply chain efficiency

Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or inventory management
- Min 5 years experience dealing directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturers highly regarded
- Strong organisational and time-management skills




- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers and deadlines simultaneously
- Good understanding of stock management, lead times and purchasing requirements
- Ability to identify potential supply issues and take proactive action
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience within the tiling, construction, building products or hardware industries will be highly regarded

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and takes ownership of their responsibilities.

You will need to be comfortable picking up the phone or communicating directly with overseas suppliers, following up when things don't go to plan and ensuring issues are resolved rather than simply passed on.

The successful applicant will have a strong eye for detail, excellent follow-through and the ability to build positive long-term relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
