The post of trainee emergency practitioner is to become an autonomous clinician capable of assessing, diagnosing, treating, and discharging patients presenting to a Minor Injuries Unit. The role blends clinical practice, academic study, and supervised training, ultimately progressing to a Band 7 Emergency Practitioner position.

The role within the minor injuries unit centres on developing the clinical, diagnostic, and decision‑making skills needed to independently assess and treat patients with minor injuries.

This is a trainee role open to health care professionals with a minimum 5 years Emergency Department experience and a desirable 2 years of band 6 experience within the ED or advance practice in the community at the same band.

This is a developmental role starting at band 6 with 6 months supervisory practice alongside completing the advanced assessment of minor injuries module and having completed the trainee EP competency pack. Then minimum a year full time consolidation and development into a competent and confident band 7 Emergency practitioner, once deemed competent by the lead practitioner / clinical supervisor.

You must Provide Innovative, Clinical, professional, and managerial leadership , providing a highly visible and authoritative presence ensuring the provision of high quality, responsive services with the needs of the patient at the centre of care delivery.

Work in partnership with the Operations Manager and the Divisional Senior Management Team to ensure effective and effective management of the department to meet agreed targets within the resources available.

Maintain a visible presence where patients, staff and visitors can turn for assistance and upon whom they can rely on to ensure that the fundamental and specialist aspects of care are met.
