2027 - Specialist Visual Arts Teacher (Family Leave)
Department of Education Victoria – Wollert VIC
2d ago , from Department of Education & Training Victoria
Barrawang Primary School opened in January 2023 in the growing northern suburb of Wollert and has quickly become a thriving and highly sought-after school community. We currently have approximately 440 students across 21 classes from Foundation to Year 6, and in 2027 we anticipate growing to around 525 students across 25 classrooms, with straight-grade classes across all year levels except Years 5/6.
At Barrawang, we believe that smaller class sizes matter. We prioritise low student numbers in every classroom and invest heavily in additional support for our students, with almost one Education Support staff member for every classroom. This allows our teachers to focus on high-quality teaching while ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.
We are proud of our strong, stable staffing profile, with a dedicated team that has remained remarkably consistent over the past three years. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do ¿ our teams plan together, learn together, and support one another to continually improve practice.
Current staff are never left to ¿figure it out¿ on their own. Our comprehensive induction program begins in December and continues throughout Term 1, providing structured support, mentoring, and opportunities to build confidence before and during the school year.
Our teaching approach is grounded in explicit instruction and evidence-informed practice, while placing equal importance on student engagement, strong relationships, creativity, and creating learning environments where every student can thrive.
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and enthusiastic Visual Arts educator who is excited to inspire students through the arts and contribute to our growing school community. The successful applicant will bring a love of Visual Arts, a commitment to developing students¿ creativity and confidence, and an ability to create engaging, inclusive and purposeful learning experiences across Foundation to Year 6.
We are looking for a reflective educator who values collaboration, builds strong relationships with students, and is eager to contribute to the next stage of Barrawang¿s journey.
Vision
Barrawang Primary School¿s vision is to ensure that our students are at the centre of everything that we do. Together we create a learning community that values diversity, inclusion and high expectations for all students.
