Nursing Services provides professional nursing support to nurses working at Alfred Health. Education, research, workforce management, quality, safety and clinical practice development are key components of this service.
About the role
Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.
The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient’s Come First Strategy.
It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards,
lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics.
To provide leadership and expertise for wound management across Alfred Health with a focus on pressure injury prevention, education, wound product review and rationalisation based on contemporary practice.
- Exemplifies and promotes clinical practice in wound management
- Provides consultation to clinical staff for patients with complex wounds where appropriate across Alfred Health sites as required
- Evaluates patient care outcomes in relation to wound management
- Liaises with clinical nurses, nurse managers, medical and allied health to identify learning needs of staff and to determine priorities for educational programs
- Provides leadership for Alfred Health in pressure injury prevention and management
- Supports quality activities and clinical research to promote knowledge development and evidence-based clinical practice and improved outcomes for patients
- Assumes responsibility as a self-directed professional for their own continuing education
About you
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Wound Care experience is essential
- Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in Wound Management
- Ability to work collaboratively with other services and departments in the hospital and community
- Commitment to quality activities/research process and application to practice
- A postgraduate qualification in wound management preferred
