We are currently seeking an experienced Fitter Machinist to join our client, a leading designer and manufacturer of specialised industrial fans and blowers.

This is a hands-on heavy engineering role suited to someone with strong mechanical fitting skills, an eye for detail and the ability to work confidently from engineering drawings and within tight tolerances.

This is a hands-on heavy engineering role suited to someone with strong mechanical fitting skills, an eye for detail and the ability to work confidently from engineering drawings and within tight tolerances.

About the Role:

Working as part of the manufacturing team, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, machining and testing specialised industrial fan equipment, ensuring each unit is completed to a high standard and ready for customer acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assemble specialised industrial fans and associated components
- Read and interpret manufacturing and engineering drawings
- Complete machining and fitting work to engineering tolerances
- Work with ball and spherical roller bearings
- Work with belt drive systems and versatile couplings for large drives
- Work with complex flow control devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise
- Assist with test running machinery and ensure equipment meets customer requirements
- Use equipment such as laser alignment and balancing machines
- Follow relevant engineering, quality and safety standards
- Identify faulty equipment or defective materials and report issues
- Maintain a safe and compliant working environment
- Complete other duties as reasonably required

About You:

You will ideally have a strong background in heavy engineering, mechanical fitting or industrial machinery, with the ability to work independently and solve mechanical and technical problems.

You will also have:

- Trade qualification in Engineering/Fitting or relevant industrial experience
- Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings
- Sound understanding of mechanical fitting and engineering tolerances
- Experience with bearings, belt drives and flexible couplings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality
- Full Australian working rights

Desirable:

- Experience with journal/sleeve bearings
- Forklift licence
- Experience with laser alignment equipment
- Experience with balancing machines
- Experience testing and commissioning industrial machinery
