Job Description
Our client, Sear Steakhouse Pty Ltd, is a premium steakhouse located in Niddrie, Victoria, offering a contemporary dining experience centred on quality produce, fire-grilled steaks, and freshly prepared dishes. Sear Steakhouse Pty Ltd also caters to private functions, group bookings, and special events through tailored menus and dedicated dining services. The business operates as a neighbourhood restaurant focused on quality food, consistent preparation, and customer service.
They are currently seeking to employ a Chef to support their kitchen operations, prepare and cook menu items to the restaurant's required standards, and contribute to the consistent delivery of quality dishes and dining services to customers. The annual salary for this full time position is $75,000 to $85,000. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting a range of steakhouse dishes, including premium steaks, lamb, beef, chicken, and seafood, in accordance with established recipes and menu specifications.
- Selecting, preparing, and portioning meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients required for daily kitchen operations.
- Carrying out preparation and cooking of premium steaks to required levels of doneness, including grilling and finishing steaks to maintain consistent quality and presentation.
- Performing food preparation processes such as cutting, trimming, marinating, seasoning,
and portioning ingredients before service.
- Preparing and cooking sauces, side dishes, salads, and other accompaniments to complement the restaurant's main menu items.
- Monitoring cooking times, temperatures, and portion sizes to ensure dishes are prepared consistently and meet the restaurant's quality standards.
- Assisting with the development, preparation, and refinement of menu items in accordance with the restaurant's style, customer requirements, and available ingredients.
- Inspecting the quality and freshness of food ingredients and reporting or removing ingredients that do not meet required quality standards.
- Coordinating food preparation and cooking activities during service to ensure dishes are completed and plated within required service times.
- Maintaining hygienic food preparation, storage, and cooking practices in accordance with applicable food safety and workplace requirements.
- Monitoring stock levels of food supplies and assisting with ordering, receiving, and appropriate storage of ingredients to support uninterrupted kitchen operations.
- Maintaining clean and organised kitchen work areas, cooking equipment, and food preparation facilities and ensuring equipment is operated and maintained appropriately.
Qualifications
- Should possess at least a Certificate III in a relevant field.
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience.
