Job Description

Williamstown Football Club We are looking for a qualified and experienced Chef to oversee kitchen operations and prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in menu development, food preparation, kitchen supervision, and maintaining food safety standards.

Task & responsibilities

Plan, develop and update menus, taking into account seasonal produce, customer preferences, dietary requirements, food trends and business objectives.

Estimate food and labour costs and assist management with budgeting, menu pricing and cost-control strategies. Prepare, season and cook a wide variety of dishes to consistently high standards in accordance with recipes and presentation guidelines. Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation before service.

Demonstrate advanced cooking techniques including grilling, roasting, braising, sautéing, baking, frying and sauce preparation. Select, inspect and maintain quality standards for raw materials, ingredients and finished food products. Order, receive and manage stock levels of food supplies and kitchen consumables to minimise waste and ensure availability of ingredients.

Monitor inventory and undertake stock rotation in accordance with food safety requirements and first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles. Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks,



kitchen hands and other kitchen staff during food preparation and service periods. Train, mentor and develop kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, workplace procedures, hygiene standards and safe work practices.

Schedule and allocate kitchen duties to ensure efficient workflow and timely service delivery. Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations. Implement and maintain food handling procedures in accordance with Victorian food safety legislation and council requirements.

Inspect kitchen facilities, equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness, maintenance and operational efficiency. Monitor portion control and food presentation standards to maintain consistency and minimise wastage. Develop and introduce new menu items, specials and seasonal offerings to enhance customer satisfaction and profitability.

Cater for customers with special dietary requirements, allergies and food intolerances while ensuring food safety compliance. Liaise with suppliers and negotiate the procurement of quality ingredients and kitchen supplies. Monitor kitchen performance and identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost efficiencies.





Ensure all food products are prepared and stored in accordance with food safety regulations and quality standards. Maintain accurate records relating to stock control, food safety, wastage, temperature monitoring and ordering. Participate in recruitment, induction and performance management of kitchen staff when required.

Collaborate with management to achieve business objectives, maintain service standards and enhance the overall customer dining experience. Respond effectively to customer feedback and implement improvements to food quality and service delivery. Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality, safety and presentation standards.

Qualification & experience

Relevant qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate IV, Diploma, or higher in Commercial Cookery. At least two years of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.

Excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a busy hospitality environment. Strong communication and leadership skills.
