Occupational Therapist | Adolescents, Adults & Life Transitions
Occupational Therapist | Adolescents, Adults & Life Transitions
Family Allied Health | Therapy Kitchen – Ascot Vale
Full-time or Part-time | HPSS Level 1–3
About the Role
Family Allied Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy Kitchen team in Ascot Vale.
This position is open to clinicians across HPSS Levels 1–3, fro m early-career OTs through to experienced clinicians looking for greater autonomy and the opportunity to develop an area of clinical interest.
We have a particular interest in supporting people throughperiods of transition; adolescence into adulthood, school into further education or employment, increasing independence, changing support needs, and transition from paediatric into adult services.
We're looking for an OT who enjoys looking beyond a diagnosis to ask:
What does this person want or need to do in everyday life, and how can we help them get there?
Your work will focus on function, capacity, participation and independence, with the opportunity to shape your caseload around your experience and areas of clinical interest.
Your Caseload
Your caseload may include adolescents, young adults and adults requiring support with:
- Transition from paediatric to adult services
- Building independence in activities of daily living
- Functional capacity and capacity building
- Executive functioning, planning and organisation
- Establishing routines and self-management skills
- Meal preparation and independent living skills
- Sensory processing and emotional regulation
- Mental health and its impact on everyday function
- Neurodevelopmental conditions and disability
- Education, employment and community participation
- Functional changes associated with illness, injury or progressive disability
- NDIS-funded assessment and intervention
- Building confidence, autonomy and self-advocacy.
We are particularly interested in supporting young people who may have outgrown traditional paediatric services but continue to benefit from skilled allied health care .
About Family Allied Health
Family Allied Health is the growing multidisciplinary allied health arm of Family Dietetics, an established provider of nutrition, feeding and multidisciplinary care.
Our clinicians work from our Therapy Kitchens, purpose-built allied health environments designed to support practical, person-centred clinical care.
You'll work alongside experienced clinicians while helping us grow our allied health offering for adolescents and adults.
This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage: established enough to provide support and infrastructure, but growing enough that great clinicians can have a genuine influence on what comes next.
Who We're Looking For
We'd particularly like to hear from OTs with an interest or experience in one or more of:
- Adolescent, young adult or adult practice
- Mental health
- Disability and NDIS
- Neurodevelopmental conditions
- Functional capacity and capacity building
- Executive functioning
- Independent living skills
- Transition planning
- Rehabilitation
- Community participation.
You don't need experience across all of these areas.
We're interested in clinicians who bring strong OT foundations, curiosity and good clinical judgement — and who want to continue developing an area of professional expertise.
Essential
- Bachelor or Masters qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised in Australia
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check,
or willingness and eligibility to obtain one prior to commencement
- Eligibility to work in Australia
- Person-centred and evidence-informed clinical practice
- Solid communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to multidisciplinary practice, supervision and ongoing professional development.
Why Family Allied Health?
We take private allied health practice seriously as a clinical career.
We offer:
- Full-time and part-time opportunities
- HPSS Level 1–3, commensurate with experience, responsibilities and scope of practice
- A dedicated CPD budget
- Clinical supervision and professional development
- Multidisciplinary practice
- Purpose-built Therapy Kitchen environments
- Opportunities to develop an area of clinical interest
- A 9-day fortnight where Saturdays form part of your agreed roster
- The opportunity to contribute to a growing allied health team.
We're not looking for clinicians who see private practice simply as a stepping stone to something more.
We believe this work offers complexity, professional growth, autonomy and the opportunity to build genuine clinical expertise , and we're looking for people who value that too.
Your Location
Family Allied Health – Therapy Kitchen
532 Mt Alexander Road
Ascot Vale VIC
Your primary base will be our Ascot Vale Therapy Kitchen.
Interested?
You might be an experienced OT looking for greater autonomy.
You might be working in paediatrics and wondering what supporting your clients beyond childhood could look like.
You might come from adult disability, mental health or rehabilitation and be looking for a different way to use your skills.
Or you might be an early-career OT looking for a team where you can develop strong foundations and discover where your clinical interests take you.
If you're interested in function, transitions and helping people build capacity for everyday life , we'd love to hear from you.
