Acclime is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne team with a focus on owning the month-end close process, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete and ready for reporting.
You will act as the link between transactional finance and reporting, taking ownership of financial integrity and providing clear, practical insights to internal stakeholders. While the role is primarily review and oversight focused, you will be comfortable being hands-on where required.
What you will be doing?
Month-End Close
Own the end-to-end month-end process
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and adjustments (including accruals, prepayments, loans and provisions)
Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs, including P&L; variance analysis against budget/forecast
Provide clear, practical commentary on key movements, risks and issues to finance leadership
Business Partnering
Partner with department leads on performance, queries and variance explanations
Support budgeting and forecasting cycles with accurate, timely inputs
Translate financial data into practical insight for non-finance stakeholders across the business
Team Coordination & Review
Review work completed by junior or offshore team members, providing guidance and feedback.
Drive efficient workflows and support delegation of transactional work where appropriate
Support review coverage alongside the Senior Financial Accountant, helping maintain continuity across the team
Reporting & Compliance
Support preparation of statutory accounts and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
Ensure financial records are maintained in line with Australian accounting standards and internal controls
Hands-On Support
Support process improvements and system enhancements
Support clean-ups, transitions and process documentation as the finance function scales
What are we looking for?
5+ years' experience in accounting role within an internal finance function
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
Strong experience owning month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations end-to-end
Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Advanced Xero and strong Excel skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
CA/CPA (completed or in progress)
Experience in a medium-sized business or within a broader corporate finance team
Exposure to multi-entity, group consolidation or listed-entity reporting environments
Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting or FP&A; processes
Experience in a multinational or cross-cultural work environment
Experience working with offshore teams
Exposure to multi-entity or listed-entity reporting environments
