Role Overview
The Legal Counsel role supports a broad range of legal and regulatory compliance matters pertaining to the operations of the Flinders Port Holdings Group. The Legal Counsel supports the Group’s strategic and commercial objectives and ensures legal and regulatory compliance as well as appropriate management of risks.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively build and maintain effective internal relationships, partnering with senior leaders and stakeholders across all business units to support commercial and operational outcomes;
Provide legal advice and support for daily operations and cross-functional projects, reporting to the Group Legal Manager, including:
Drafting and review of contracts across all business units, with a particular focus on construction contracts;
The business on new and existing legislation, case law, and other developments including identifying the impact on FPH and how associated risks may be managed;
Providing legal advice and support for FPH Group projects;
Liaising with external counsel as required; and
Support legal team operations,
including maintaining legal templates and assisting with regular policy reviews and updates and assisting with contract lifecycle and records management processes.
About you
Your skills and experience will include;
Bachelor of Laws and current unrestricted practicing certificate (or eligibility to be admitted to Practice in South Australia);
Demonstrated ability to work with a moderate level of autonomy, escalating complex or high-risk issues;
Ideally 3 years PQE;
Valid driver’s licence;
Demonstrated understanding and application of contract law;
Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills;
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and influencing skills; and
Strong attention to detail.
