Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the part-time position of Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer to work at Coonamble AMS.
The Aboriginal Disability Liaison Officer (ADLO) acts as a cultural, advocacy, and supports link between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with disability, their families, communities, and disability service systems. The primary purpose of the ADLO is to improve access, participation, and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability by providing culturally safe support, advocacy, information, and coordination of services.
NOTE: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
Key Selection Criteria
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory)
Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Case Management or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living with disability, including providing culturally secure support, advocacy, care coordination, case management, or service navigation within health, community, disability, aged care, or human services settings.
Sound knowledge of and skills and experience in working with community members and their carers
Understanding of the issues faced by Indigenous people
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and computer skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work without supervision and as part of multi-disciplinary team Demonstrates a commitment to the CAHS code of conduct, equal employment opportunity, work health & safety and cultural safety framework
Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children's check and unrestricted class C or P2 driver's license
Candidates must be work-ready, with all the required pre-employment checks (police checks, WWCC, etc.) available to be submitted directly after the interview.
