Mildura Base Public Hospital
Mildura
Full Time - $95,732 - $123,905.60 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Position suitable for Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Registered Psychiatric Nurses
About the role
We are looking for a Mental Health Clinician (Intake) to join the Towards Change Team at the Mildura Mental Health and Wellbeing Local — a genuinely recent kind of service, built in partnership between Mildura Base Public Hospital, Wellways, Mallee District Aboriginal Services and Sunraysia Community Health. In this role, you'll manage initial intake, assessment and planning for people accessing the Local, working within a multidisciplinary team that supports participants beyond mental health alone — including physical health, substance use, employment and relationships. You'll be part of shaping how mental health and wellbeing support is delivered in the Mildura community, with a strong focus on transparent, strengths-based, recovery-oriented care.
Remuneration under the Victorian Public Mental Health Services, Medical Scientists, Pharmacists & Psychologists and Allied Health Enterprise Agreement.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist, with relevant postgraduate mental health qualification
Demonstrated experience in intake, triage, assessment or planning for people experiencing mental illness or psychological distress
Sound knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and its application to clinical practice
Highly developed communication, interpersonal and solution-focused problem-solving skills
Comfort working with electronic medical records and a willingness to adapt to the technology platforms that support the role
The ability to manage competing priorities with efficiency and professionalism, both independently and as part of a team
The Team
The Towards Change Team sits within the Mildura Mental Health and Wellbeing Local, based at The Local building. This is a community-led, co-produced service model — meaning you'll work in close partnership with participants, Peer Navigators, and colleagues across partner organisations, in a culture built on open communication and shared accountability rather than working in a silo.
What MBPH and The Local offer you:
A genuinely collaborative, team-based environment where you're supported rather than working in isolation with complex caseloads
The chance to help build a new service from the ground up, with modern systems and technology designed to support your practice
Competitive remuneration ($95,732–$123,905.60 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications) plus salary packaging to reduce your taxable income
Internal professional development opportunities, including scholarships for eligible employees and access to specialist MBPH programs
Free onsite parking and a central location reducing travel time
Employee Assistance Program, including free remedial therapy and physiotherapy
A strong, active commitment to reconciliation and to building culturally safe services for First Nations community members
Membership of MBPH's LGBTQIA+ Allies network and Pride in Diversity
A current Victorian Working with Children Check, National Police Check (within the last three months) and NDIS Worker Screening Check are required.
