Recruitment Consultant - Associate / Principal - In-house Legal

JS Careers is a leading Australian recruitment and executive search firm specialising in financial services. We partner with investment banks, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, major corporates and other leading financial institutions across Australia and the broader APAC region.

Following continued growth in our legal practice, we are looking to appoint an experienced recruitment consultant to join and help further build our Legal Recruitment & Executive Search Division.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious recruiter to operate within a specialist legal search business, working on senior and strategically important mandates with some of Australia's leading finance and investment businesses.

You will focus on the recruitment of in-house legal professionals, ranging from experienced lawyers through to senior Legal Counsel, Head of Legal and General Counsel appointments.

You will work directly with senior stakeholders across the financial services and investment markets, including General Counsels, CEOs, COOs, Managing Directors and senior investment professionals.

The role will provide significant exposure to both clients and candidates and will involve the full recruitment and executive search lifecycle, including:

- Building and developing trusted relationships with senior clients across investment banking, private equity, venture capital, funds management and corporate markets.
- Taking detailed recruitment briefs and developing a strong understanding of each client's business, culture and requirements.
- Managing end-to-end recruitment and executive search processes, from initial briefing through to offer and placement.




- Identifying and engaging high-calibre legal professionals through targeted headhunting, networking, referrals and market mapping.
- Conducting detailed candidate interviews and assessments and providing clients with informed, market-led advice.
- Advising clients and candidates on legal market trends, remuneration, talent availability and career development.
- Developing new client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the Legal practice.
- Building a strong personal network and market reputation within the legal and financial services communities.

For candidates operating at Principal level, there will also be the prospect to mentor junior consultants, take ownership of key client relationships and play a significant role in shaping the strategy and growth of the Legal division.

Who We're Looking For

Experienced recruitment consultants who have a proven track record in professional services, legal or financial services recruitment and are looking to move into a more specialist executive search environment.

We are also open to experienced lawyers or legal professionals who have strong client-facing and commercial capabilities and are considering a transition into executive search.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

- Previous recruitment, executive search or legal industry experience.




- Strong commercial acumen and an ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interviewing and influencing skills.
- A genuine interest in the legal profession and financial services markets.
- The ability to operate autonomously while contributing to a high-performing team.
- A strong work ethic, resilience and an entrepreneurial approach to business development.
- A tertiary qualification.
