Financial Accountant (PO3) | Mackay Hospital and Health Service | Mackay Base Hospital | 12-month fixed-term appointment | Full-time | Onsite
u&u; Recruitment Partners is partnering with Mackay Hospital and Health Service to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Corporate Services finance team.
This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity based onsite at Mackay Base Hospital. The role will suit an accountant with strong fixed-asset, capital accounting and financial compliance experience who is interested in contributing to a major regional health service.
About Mackay Hospital and Health Service
Mackay Hospital and Health Service provides hospital, community and rural health services across a large regional area, including Mackay, Sarina, Clermont, Bowen and the Whitsundays. Mackay Base Hospital is the region’s primary referral hospital and supports the delivery of contemporary healthcare services to local communities.
The Chance
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will support the delivery of the Timely Investment Infrastructure Maintenance program and financial accounting activities across Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
You will provide accurate financial information, technical accounting advice and analysis relating to fixed assets, capital programs and infrastructure investment. The role also supports statutory reporting, audit requirements, and the integrity of the organisation’s fixed asset register.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor the fixed asset register, ensuring data remains accurate and complete;
- Account for asset acquisitions, disposals, depreciation and impairment;
- Coordinate the annual review of asset useful lives;
- Prepare complex reconciliations and investigate accounting matters;
- Provide advice on Australian Accounting Standards and government financial policies;
- Assist with statutory reporting and financial statement note disclosures;
- Support internal and external audit requirements;
- Assist with capital program budgets, forecasting and financial analysis;
- Provide advice and input into infrastructure maintenance program deliverables; and
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- A tertiary accounting qualification from a recognised institution;
- Experience in fixed asset, capital or infrastructure accounting;
- Strong reconciliation, financial analysis and reporting capability;
- Knowledge of relevant accounting standards, including asset recognition, depreciation and impairment;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems capability;
- Experience monitoring capital budgets, forecasts and financial performance;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- The ability to build productive relationships with finance, operational and senior stakeholders; and
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
CPA or CA membership (or in process of attaining) will be highly regarded. Experience within Queensland Government, Queensland Health or another large and complex organisation would also be advantageous.
Employment Details
- Classification:PO3;
- Salary:$107,042 to $117,065 per annum plus superannuation;
- Term:12-month fixed-term appointment;
- Hours:Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight;
- Location:Mackay Base Hospital; and
- Working arrangement:Onsite attendance is required. Candidates must be based in Mackay or have a genuine plan to relocate before commencing.
