Project Support Officer - Reaching Older Men Earlier (ROME)

Bring your project coordination and engagement skills to a role with purpose

Are you organised, good with people and able to keep projects moving?

Council on the Ageing Queensland is looking for a Project Support Officer to join the Reaching Older Men Earlier (ROME) project.

This role would suit someone with a mix of project support, coordination and community or stakeholder engagement skills who enjoys working with people while keeping activities, information and deadlines on track.

ROME is a Queensland-wide project working with community organisations to strengthen how they reach and support men aged 65 years and over who may be experiencing isolation or distress, before things become too difficult.

Working closely with the Project Lead, you will help coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the project and build respectful relationships with older men, community organisations and project partners.

What you'll be doing

You will combine practical project coordination with community and stakeholder engagement.

You will:

- coordinate project activities, milestones, actions and timelines
- keep project schedules, action registers, records and reporting requirements up to date
- support the recruitment and onboarding of older men who are contributing their personal experiences to the project
- support the onboarding of participating community organisations
- be a key contact for participants and stakeholders, providing information and following up agreed actions
- coordinate workshops, consultations, meetings and other engagement activities
- prepare participant communications, meeting papers, presentations, correspondence and draft reports
- maintain accurate project and stakeholder records,



including in Salesforce
- support data collection, evaluation and project and funding reports
- coordinate participant payments, supplier paperwork and workshop administration
- identify emerging issues and raise them with the Project Lead when needed
- suggest practical ways to improve project systems and the participant experience.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and comfortable working with both people and detail .

Your experience may come from project support, program coordination, community engagement, stakeholder engagement, human services, health, aged care or the not-for-profit sector.

You will bring:

- experience supporting projects, programs or community-based initiatives
- strong organisational skills and the ability to manage different priorities and meet deadlines
- practical experience using project tools such as schedules, action lists, records and reports
- strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with older people, community organisations and other stakeholders
- the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully, both in person and online
- strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- experience coordinating meetings, workshops, consultations or other engagement activities




- confidence using Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn systems such as Salesforce
- the ability to work independently and as part of a small project team.

A relevant qualification in project management, community services, human services, social sciences, business, administration or a related area would be an advantage. Relevant experience and demonstrated skills will also be considered.

Experience in ageing, aged care, health, disability, community services, social connection or working with older people would also be an advantage.

About the role

Position: Project Support Officer - Reaching Older Men Earlier (ROME)

Employment: 0.8 FTE, fixed term until 30 June 2027

Classification: SCHADS Level 5

Location: Level 6, 10 Market Street, Brisbane QLD

Work arrangements: Versatile work arrangements available in accordance with organisational policy

Reports to: ROME Project Lead

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory criminal history check, right to work in Australia and a current Driver's Licence.
