Consultant Psychiatrist - Community Team 2, Waratah Clinic, IWAMHS

35 hours per fortnight Fractional/Fixed Term from 28/09/26 to 17/12/26

Unit Description:

Our Community Mental Health Service at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is an integrated service with each team providing comprehensive, truly multidisciplinary care to our consumers. This role is within Community team 2, located at Waratah Clinic, Moonee Ponds.

About the role:

This position is specifically for Consultant Psychiatrists interested in working on the RMH MHSs community team who specialise in working with consumers in the community, based at Waratah Community Mental Health Service. In conjunction with a dynamic senior medical staff team, the position will lead clinical service delivery models at RMH. The Consultant Psychiatrist will work in partnership with the relevant team managers and strongly promote secure, effective and efficient high quality, coordinated care for patients.The Consultant Psychiatrist will take a leadership role in working closely with the various internal and external health providers to ensure best clinical outcomes for our service users.



The Consultant Psychiatrist will undertake the statutory responsibilities of the Delegated Psychiatrist as required under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.As for all Consultant Psychiatrist with RMH MHSs, there may be times when Consultants are required to undertake alternative duties at a range of different locations as directed by the MD and Director of Acute Mental Health Services, RMH MHS to assist with the safe medical cover of other teams. The position description will be subject to periodic review in accordance with service requirements.

About You:

- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship
