About the Role

We’re looking for a commercially minded People & Culture Business Partner to support our growing retailer across Australia and New Zealand

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll partner closely with leaders across retail and support functions to deliver best-practice HR, ensure compliance, and build a high-performing, engaged workforce.

You’ll own the end-to-end employee lifecycle and play a key role in shaping culture, supporting managers, and enabling business growth. You must have strong understanding or HR Operations, Compliance- Modern Awards, National Employment Standards, Employee Relations, WHS & Safety, Australian and NZ employment legislation.

This role ensures our retail stores, support functions and marketing team are supported by best practice HR operations that are compliant, commercially grounded and culturally aligned.

This role owns the day-to-end employment lifecycle in Australia and New Zealand, covering Award and legislative compliance, store level HR support, performance management support, employee relations, workforce planning and WHS reporting and acts as the primary point of connection between the Australian and NZ business.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards, and National Employment Standards as well as New Zealand Employment Legislation




- Advise leaders on employee classification, pay conditions, and workplace obligations
- Maintain compliant employment contracts, policies, and procedures
- Partner with payroll/finance to ensure accurate application of award conditions

Employee Relations

- Manage end-to-end Employee Relations matters including performance, conduct, grievances, and terminations
- Provide practical, balanced advice to managers on complex situations
- Ensure processes are fair, consistent, and compliant
- Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions

Business Partnering & Culture

- Build strong relationships with leaders across retail and corporate teams
- Support a positive, high-performing and inclusive workplace culture
- Conduct regular site engagement to stay close to frontline teams
- Support onboarding, engagement and employee experience initiatives

Performance & Development

- Support delivery of performance and review cycles
- Coach managers in effective goal setting, feedback and performance management
- Identify capability gaps and contribute to development initiatives

Workforce Planning & Recruitment

- Partner with leaders on headcount planning and organisational design




- Support recruitment activities including advertising, screening, and onboarding
- Maintain accurate workforce data and reporting

WHS & Safety

- Support workplace health & safety compliance across multiple sites
- Manage incident reporting, investigations, and documentation
- Maintain registers, risk assessments, and safety processes
- Promote a strong safety-first culture

About You

- 3+ years’ HR generalist experience in Australia and NZ (ideally experience working in retail and e-commerce environments)
- Strong knowledge of Fair Work Act, NES, and Modern Awards and NZ employment legislation
- Proven experience managing employee relations matters end-to-end
- Confident partnering with leaders and influencing outcomes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable working both strategically and operationally

Additional Experience

- Experience working with remote or offshore teams
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms
