We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Graduate Landscape Architect to join the Ian Barker Gardens Design team. Working within an established team, you’ll be responsible for creating landscape master plans for some of Melbourne’s most sought-after residential properties.
About you:
- An eye for design with a balance of aesthetics and functionality
- Have excellent written and verbal communication - you’ll keep clients, contractors and your design team in the loop
- Own your work from site visit to final plan, meet your deadlines, and put your hand up early when something needs support rather than letting it slide
- Bring genuine enthusiasm for outstanding design and thoughtful landscapes
- Represent Ian Barker Gardens with polish in every client interaction, holding yourself to a high standard of presentation, conduct and craftsmanship
- Back your teammates, pitch in where needed, and help create a studio culture where senior staff and fellow graduates alike can rely on you
Education and technical skills you’ll bring:
- A Bachelor’s Degree(or equivalent)in Landscape Architecture(or close to completion)
- Experience using and familiarity with AutoCAD isessential
- Experience using SketchUp and rendering software
- Horticultural/ plant knowledge - not essential but a bonusand will be viewed favourably
- Sketching ability and experience - not essential but a bonusand will be viewed favourably
What you can expect your days to look like:
- Development and production of landscape concept and master plans
- Conducting site visits and producing accurate base plans
- Using AutoCAD to convert hand-drawn sketches into plans
- Contributing to the development of design palettes (i.e. planting, pots and furniture and material palettes)
- Liaising with clients, colleagues, construction teams and external contractors

If you are in your final year of study and will be graduating at the end of the year, we are open to the right candidate commencing in a part-time capacity and transitioning to a full-time role once your study is complete
