The City of Marion Property and Facilities Team oversees a diverse property portfolio across the south-west of Adelaide, with more than 130 lease and licence agreements for sporting and community groups, and a range of commercial leases.
About the Role
Reporting to the Unit Manager Property and Facilities, you’ll be responsible for the effective management of Council’s land, property management, leasing negotiations, and providing expert technical advice during acquisitions and disposals of properties. You would be involved in significant property projects and transactions that help shape the City of Marion.
You will:
Manage a range of property matters including acquisitions, disposals, road openings and closures, easements, encroachments and community land processes.
Support and guide the Property Team in managing Council’s commercial and community lease and licence portfolio, ensuring agreements, policies and legislative requirements are met.
Provide expert advice on leasing arrangements, facility operating models, outgoings and utilities.
Monitor the financial performance of the leased portfolio and ensure rent and outgoings are managed in line with lease obligations.
Prepare Council reports, briefings and business cases, and help improve property-related policies, processes and guidelines.
Coach and support team members while building strong relationships with community groups, sporting clubs, lessees, internal teams and external stakeholders, supporting good governance and effective use of Council facilities.
About you
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Property, Law or Asset Management, or equivalent experience.
Strong experience in land, property or asset management, including leasing, acquisitions,
disposals and property transactions; experience with property or tenancy management systems will be highly regarded.
Confidence interpreting contracts and leases, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong judgement, initiative and project management skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and navigate complex or sensitive stakeholder matters.
Must hold a valid, full (unrestricted) driver's licensein accordance with South Australian requirements.
This is a prescribed position and requires a current DHS Working with Children Check and a willingness to undertake Child Safe Training.
