An exciting opportunity is available to join Australia’s national voice for mining, the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA), as Assistant Manager – Content and Communication at our head office in Canberra. Come and join a tremendous team to help us build awareness of Australia’s greatest industry!

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager – Content and Communication works closely with the MCA’s Manager – Campaigns and General Manager – External Relations to support the creation and development of content and communication across a variety of different mediums and platforms.

The role also provides support for the wider team through assisting with both external and online events as well as general administrative duties.

MCA is a high-profile industry association with a broad existing engagement program.

The position will be ideal for an aspiring communication and media professional who is willing to learn, curious, energetic and open to new ideas on how the MCA delivers its campaigns and messages to a range of audiences.

It would particularly suit someone who is in the early stages of their career or a recent graduate in Communication, Media, Journalism and/or Marketing looking to start their career in a professional environment where they will be supported, mentored and encouraged to do and be their best.

Areas of responsibility include:

- Liaising with external providers to support MCA’s social media engagement, including content development and posting
- Assisting with and supporting MCA in-person and online events
- Supporting the development of the MCA website,



including content development, reporting and publishing
- Supporting MCA’s campaigns and communication activities
- Providing administrative support to MCA’s external relations team
- Managing the development and adaptation of collateral for different stakeholders
- Administration and auditing of the MCA’s contacts management database platform
- Other duties as required to support the team.

Key requirements:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of different audiences
- The ability to identify emerging issues and opportunities
- A strong team player with sound interpersonal skills, including an ability to work effectively within a small, highly motivated, committed and professional team
- Strong creative thinking skills, with the capability to design and adapt ideas to meet strategic objectives and audience needs
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively to tight deadlines under limited supervision in sensitive contexts
- Proven experience and knowledge of digital platforms with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Strong photography skills with the ability to produce quality visual content tailored for social media




- Basic video editing capabilities with the capacity to review content holistically and quickly make improvements, previous experience with CapCut advantageous but not essential
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations across Australia for the purposes of filming content and coordinating small film crews (approximately 4-6 trips per year).
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Communication, Media, Journalism or Marketing (candidates who are currently completing a degree in these areas are also encouraged to apply)
