Title: CSR Modeller | Suburban Rail Loop East KBR
Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East is part of the Linewide Alliance, a contract awarded to a consortium including John Holland, Alstom, RATP DEC, WSP and KBR to deliver the first stage of Melbourne's 90km orbital rail line. The project will deliver 26km of twin underground tunnels and six new stations between Cheltenham and Box Hill, enabling 70,000 new homes near public transport, jobs, schools and services and supporting diverse, accessible communities. The Alliance will deliver the complete Linewide package of works: tunnel fit‑outs, rolling stock and construction of depot and maintenance facilities. KBR, alongside WSP as the Designer Non‑Owner Participant, is leading comprehensive design services and contributing to alliance management. Work scope includes track, overhead line equipment, drainage, civil works, tunnels, building structures, HV and LV power systems, cable containment, systems integration and safety assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality 3D models and design deliverables for major infrastructure projects.
- Produce coordinated models and documentation that meet project, client and industry standards.
- Coordinate design interfaces across utilities, buildings, civil, rail and tunnel disciplines.
- Participate in model reviews, clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination workshops.
- Interpret engineering designs, specifications and technical requirements.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of project milestones within agreed quality, budget and schedule constraints.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to resolve design and coordination challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to BIM, Digital Engineering and modelling standards.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers and modellers where required.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of complex transport infrastructure projects through effective communication and collaboration.
About You
You will bring: Experience working as a Modeller,
BIM Specialist or Digital Engineering professional within transport infrastructure, utilities, buildings, rail, roads or tunnelling projects. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination and BIM delivery. Experience working on major infrastructure or complex engineering projects. Ability to interpret technical information and develop practical design solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. A collaborative approach and willingness to work across multiple disciplines.
Technical Requirements
- Advanced experience in either OpenRoads Designer or Autodesk Revit.
- Experience developing and managing detailed design models within a BIM environment.
- Understanding of design coordination and model-based project delivery.
- Experience producing design and documentation packages to support engineering outcomes.
Highly Desirable
- Experience across utilities, combined services routes (CSR), utility relocations or service coordination.
- Experience working on rail, metro, road, tunnel or major transport infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Navisworks, ProjectWise, BIM 360, ACC or equivalent collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge of Victorian infrastructure project standards and requirements.
- Exposure to underground infrastructure, station developments or large-scale civil projects.
Qualifications
Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Digital Engineering, Building Design, Drafting, BIM or a related discipline. Demonstrated industry experience within infrastructure project delivery.
