We’ve rolled out a brand-new ERP platform (Odoo), we’re investing in data and automation, and we want technology that makes life simpler, faster and smarter for the people actually running our business.

The Role

This isn’t your traditional Head of IT role.

Our infrastructure, networks and security operations are delivered by a managed IT services provider (MSP). You’ll own that relationship and make sure they deliver.

Your real focus is where technology can create serious value for Daniel’s: embedding Odoo, data and reporting, retail and manufacturing technology, integrations, AI and automation.

And this isn’t technology from an ivory tower.

Our factories are producing 24/7. Trucks are being dispatched. Stores are opening. Customers are ordering. Donuts need to get where they’re going.

Technology needs to work in the real world, in real time.

You’ll lead a small onshore/offshore team, work closely with leaders across our business and report directly to the CEO.

Odoo is live. Now we need to make it hum.

You’ll own our ERP environment, drive stabilisation and improvement, establish strong governance and make sure the investment translates into genuine business efficiency.

Importantly, you’ve been through an ERP go-live and stabilisation before. You know the difference between “the system is live” and “the system is actually working brilliantly for the business.”

Turn Data Into Decisions

We want fewer spreadsheet gymnastics and more reliable answers.

You’ll own our cloud data platform across Azure / Databricks and lead the development of consolidated, trustworthy reporting and BI.

The goal is simple: give our leaders the information they need to make better decisions — without needing 14 spreadsheets and a prayer to get there.

Keep Stores & Factories Moving

You’ll own the technology that sits at the heart of our retail and manufacturing operations — including POS, EFTPOS, kiosks, EDI, inventory and dispatch.

This is where being operationally minded matters.





A system problem at 6 am in a production environment or during Saturday morning trade is very different from a broken PowerPoint template on Monday afternoon.

You’ll understand the difference.

Make Our Partners Earn Their Donuts

You’ll own our MSP relationship and broader technology vendor landscape.

That means setting expectations, holding providers accountable to SLAs, challenging performance and making sure we’re getting genuine value for money.

You’ll also be commercially sharp enough to negotiate and redline technology contracts — including liability, indemnities and commercial terms — and hunt down unnecessary licences and costs.

Automate the Boring Stuff

We’re excited about AI and automation — but we’re much more interested in what it does than what it’s called.

You’ll identify practical opportunities to remove repetitive work, reduce errors and make our teams more productive.

Early opportunities include automating joiners/movers/leavers and OCR order processing, with plenty more to follow.

You’ll also bring sensible governance around data access, privacy and risk.

In other words: use AI because it solves a problem, not because someone added “AI” to a PowerPoint slide.

Our MSP handles the day-to-day security operations. You own the outcome.

You’ll govern our approach to cybersecurity and compliance across areas including Essential Eight, PCI DSS, Privacy Act requirements and penetration testing.

You don’t need to personally operate every security tool, but you do need enough technical credibility to challenge our providers, ask the uncomfortable questions and know whether the answers stack up.

Own the Numbers

Technology needs a commercial brain.

You’ll build and defend the annual IT budget, manage actuals against budget, identify savings opportunities and develop ROI-backed investment cases.

Each month, you’ll report performance and spend directly to the CEO.

“IT needs more money” isn’t a business case.

You’ll be able to explain the investment, the return and why it matters.

Who You Are

You’re a business systems, applications and data leader who happens to know technology inside out.

You’re probably happiest when you’re sitting with an operational team, understanding what’s slowing them down and figuring out how systems,



data or automation can make it better.

You’re pragmatic. Commercial. Curious. Hands-on when needed.

And you know that great technology leadership isn’t about owning every problem yourself — it’s about creating clear accountability, building capable teams and making sure the right people solve the right problems.

You’ll be:

- An applications, data and integrations leader who understands where technology can unlock efficiency and growth.
- Operationally grounded, with experience in retail, food, FMCG or manufacturing environments. This is a must!
- A strong vendor and MSP manager who isn’t afraid to hold providers accountable.
- Pragmatic and outcomes-focused — you’ll own the ERP savings and automation wins, not just the project plans.
- Clear on accountability boundaries — you won’t allow IT to become the dumping ground for every broken process or questionable spreadsheet.
- Governance-minded on security and compliance while understanding that the MSP delivers the day-to-day operations.
- A capable leader who can get the best from a small hybrid onshore/offshore team.
- Comfortable with genuine autonomy and minimal oversight.
- Focused on building depth in your team so the technology function never depends on one person knowing everything.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll have strong experience across:

- ERP delivery and governance — ideally Odoo, although experience with comparable ERP platforms absolutely counts.
- Leading an ERP through go-live, stabilisation and optimisation.
- Data platforms, reporting and BI.
- Retail and/or food/FMCG manufacturing technology.
- POS, EDI and time-critical production, inventory and dispatch environments.
- Vendor and MSP management.
- Cybersecurity governance, including familiarity with Essential Eight and PCI DSS.
- Technology budgeting, commercial negotiations and ROI-based investment decisions.
- Practical deployment of AI and automation with proper governance around data, access and privacy.

Most importantly, you’ll know how to turn technology from “the IT stuff” into something that genuinely makes the business better.
