The Opportunity

This position is an significant senior appointment for the company, acting as a senior legal counsel for the funds management business in Australia and offshore. You will enjoy working with a high degree of autonomy, partnering closely with senior legal and business leaders and providing forward-thinking, highly commercial and pragmatic advice.

You will advise on the structuring, establishment and ongoing management of onshore and offshore funds and investment vehicles, trust structures and the regulatory requirements applicable to managed investment schemes and financial products.

You will support capital raising activities and advise on capital transactions, as well as provide legal support on selected strategic transactions as well as broader strategic business initiatives.

Key Requirements





- A minimum of 10 years' post-qualification experience gained in a strong in-house team or leading law firm within funds management.
- Significant experience specialising in funds, including fund structuring, establishment, product development and ongoing management.
- Solid technical expertise in funds management, financial services, managed investment schemes, trust structures and investment vehicles.
- Experience advising on capital raising activities and debt securities issuances is ideal.
- Experience across wholesale investor markets, private credit, commercial real estate equity, asset-backed securities strategies and/or non-bank lending structures will be highly regarded.
- Broader corporate and commercial experience, including strategic transactions and commercial agreements, will be advantageous but is not the primary focus of the role.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify, assess and manage legal and regulatory risk in a pragmatic and solutions-focused manner.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence and credibility to work collaboratively with senior executives and business leaders.
- A strong ability to operate autonomously and proactively, manage competing priorities and take ownership of matters through to completion.
