The Opportunity

The Firm is continuing to invest in the expansion of its national Energy group, with front-end construction forming an important part of its next phase of growth.

This role will suit an experienced Senior construction lawyer looking to take greater ownership of a practice while remaining embedded within a highly integrated projects team. You will work alongside established energy, infrastructure, corporate, finance, property, planning and disputes capability, advising clients across the development and delivery of significant projects throughout Australia.

The practice has a strong existing pipeline across renewable energy and infrastructure, including solar, wind, battery storage, transmission and broader energy projects. As investment in the sector mures, clients are increasingly looking for sophisticated project capability delivered through a responsive, multidisciplinary model. The Firm is positioning its national Energy practice around that demand and is making a strategic investment in senior capability to support its continued growth.

This creates scope to become the recognised construction lead within the group, develop senior relationships with an existing client base and build a broader practice as the Energy platform expands.

The Firm

The Firm is an independent Australian practice with an increasingly prominent position across energy, infrastructure and major projects.

Its national Energy group operates as a genuinely multidisciplinary practice. The model provides the technical depth and cross-practice capability associated with larger projects practices,



while maintaining a more agile approach to project delivery and client service. The construction role will sit firmly within this national platform rather than operating as a standalone construction practice.

Your Practice:

- Advising on project procurement strategies, delivery models and construction risk allocation across major developments
- Drafting and negotiating EPC, EPCM, D&C;, O&M; and other project delivery and operational agreements
- Structuring construction packages, interface arrangements, supply and services agreements and supporting project documentation
- Advising across tender processes and major project negotiations, including contractor engagement and project execution strategy
- Managing construction interfaces between development, financing, grid connection, operations and other project workstreams
- Advising on project delivery risk throughout the development and construction lifecycle, with a strong focus on identifying and resolving issues before they develop into disputes
- Working alongside the broader Energy group on transactions spanning renewable generation, battery storage, transmission and other major infrastructure
- Developing direct relationships with an established national client base while mentoring junior and mid-level lawyers within the projects team

About You

- 7+ years’ PAE with substantial front-end construction, projects or major infrastructure experience gained with a well-regarded firm or relevant in-house environment
- Strong experience negotiating major project documentation
- Depth of practice in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, resources or other complex capital projects; direct renewables experience is advantageous but not essential
- Robust commercial judgement and the confidence to lead negotiations, manage project risk and engage directly with sophisticated project sponsors, developers, investors and contractors
- Motivated by the opportunity to take greater ownership of client relationships and build a construction practice within a growing national Energy platform
