Applications are invited for a part-time substantive Consultant appointment in the Lipid Service (1PA) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke’s Hospital) on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the development and expansion of our nationally recognised Lipid Service. The appointee will be expected to contribute to out-patient duties in the Institute of Metabolic Science of the University of Cambridge. There is no on-call rota.

The successful applicant will be able to offer an expert opinion on a range of dyslipidaemias and the management of atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk more generally and be expected to monitor patients receiving any of the lipid modifying agents including the injectable treatments. You will be expected to contribute to the weekly Lipid Clinic meeting and to participate in the teaching and training of junior medical staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals.

Applicants must be registered with the GMC with a licence to practise, or be within three months of award of, a CCT in either Chemical Pathology (Metabolic Medicine) or Diabetes and Endocrinology (or equivalent) at the time of interview. Experience of clinical research is desirable.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
