About the Role

Due to the growth of the business, we are looking for a Development Manager to identify and progress new renewable energy and energy storage projects in Australia with a strong focus on land origination, early-stage project assessment and coordination of the development process.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

- Source and screen potential renewable energy projects in Australia and overseas against the company's strategy.
- Review market conditions and early project fundamentals, and coordinate the site, environmental and feasibility work needed to determine whether an opportunity should progress.




- Maintain momentum across BESS, wind and solar developments and plan the activities required to bring each project to a position suitable for financial close.
- Monitor policy, regulation and technology changes that may affect the project pipeline.
- Establish and manage the development work program for planning, environmental, stakeholder and other approval requirements.
- Coordinate with local, state and federal authorities to obtain the permits and approvals required for each project.
- Direct environmental and technical advisers, including managing the timing and quality of studies and supporting documents.
- Coordinate the grid connection pathway with NSPs, AEMO and other relevant network bodies.
- Work with engineering advisers to review connection studies, network limitations and applicable compliance requirements.
- Assess connection-related risks and opportunities and ensure they are addressed during early development.
- Prepare project proposals and business cases, including the CAPEX, OPEX and revenue assumptions required for financial assessment.
- Evaluate the commercial case for each project and contribute to investment committee submissions and internal decisions.
- Partner with the commercial and finance teams to select appropriate development pathways and improve anticipated project returns.
- Assist with negotiations for material project arrangements, including land access, grid agreements and EPC interfaces where relevant.
- Build effective working relationships with landowners, councils, communities,



traditional owners and regulatory authorities.
- Lead the negotiation and ongoing management of land agreements, easements and site access arrangements.
- Maintain stakeholder support throughout development to assist the project's long-term success.
- Coordinate with the design, engineering and construction teams so development decisions support later project delivery.

Who we are looking for

- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy development or a related area, preferably involving large-scale utility projects.
- A degree in a relevant discipline.
- Practical experience with Australian development applications and planning and environmental approval processes.
- Working knowledge of the grid connection process for wind, solar and/or BESS projects.
- Ability to examine project economics and contribute to commercial structuring decisions.
- Knowledge of market assessment, project feasibility, renewable energy regulation and the Australian energy market.
- Proven negotiation capability, particularly in relation to land access and permits.
- Ability to manage development workstreams such as site investigations, environmental studies and feasibility assessments.
- Effective stakeholder management skills and the ability to establish productive relationships with landowners, authorities and other external parties.
- Experience coordinating the work of consultants, engineers and professional advisers.
- Solid written, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to produce project proposals and business cases.
