About the Company
My client is a developer who has outsourced construction to homebuilders in the past. They are now building their internal construction capability and are seeking an Accounts Payable Manager with experience in construction or property to support this transition.
My client operates across lifestyle and lease communities, retirement-style living parks and holiday parks. They continue to expand their portfolio across key metropolitan and coastal markets.
The Role:
This is a newly created role within the construction division where you will take ownership of Accounts Payable while supporting broader finance operations across multiple projects.
Working closely with construction, development and finance teams, you will ensure invoices, progress claims and project costs are managed accurately while supporting cashflow, reporting and financial governance processes. This role offers the opportunity to help establish systems, processes and workflows from the ground up.
To be successful in this role you MUST have experience working within construction (ideally residential construction) or property development.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Financial Administration
- Manage end-to-end accounts payable processes.
- Process invoices, payment runs and supplier reconciliations.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure timely approvals and payments.
Construction Finance Support
- Manage invoicing of progress claims.
- Allocate costs to projects and monitor project-related expenditure.
- Support cashflow management and forecasting activities.
- Assist with month-end, year-end and board reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Manage and maintain the system my client has chosen to implement, including coding structures, budgets and user administration.
- Support contractor onboarding and system setup requirements.
- Work closely with finance and construction teams to develop efficient processes and controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, workflows and operational efficiency.
About You:
- Minimum 5 years' experience within Accounts Payable, Senior Accounts Officer, Finance Officer or similar finance roles.
- Experience within construction or property development industries.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable and project-based financial processes.
- Exposure to cashflow management, forecasting and reporting.
- Experience working across multiple stakeholders and business functions.
- Technical knowledge: CAANZ or CPA
- Proficient in Excel and finance systems.
- Experience using Evolve, JD Edwards (JDE), Oracle or similar systems highly regarded.
