The Role
Working closely with Data & Analytics leadership, you’ll provide hands-on technical leadership across complex data migration, modernisation and customer transformation initiatives.
You’ll lead engineers and delivery partners while maintaining oversight of the broader platform, ensuring technical decisions are scalable, maintainable and aligned with business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Take end-to-end technical ownership of an enterprise Data & Analytics platform.
- Lead complex data migration and transformation initiatives, including legacy-to-cloud and Salesforce-related programs.
- Design and evolve scalable data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, enterprise data models and reusable data products.
- Reverse engineer and modernise legacy ETL processes, stored procedures and reporting logic.
- Drive data discovery, profiling, reconciliation, quality and validation activities.
- Enable trusted self-service analytics through curated datasets and Power BI semantic models .
- Implement and improve CI/CD, DevOps and automation across data workloads.
- Ensure strong data governance, security, quality and documentation standards.
- Provide technical oversight of internal teams, contractors and vendor-delivered solutions.
- Mentor Data Engineers and Analysts while improving engineering standards and delivery maturity.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have operated as a Technical Lead, Lead Data Engineer, Data Platform Lead or similar within a complex enterprise environment.
Most importantly, you’ll have experience owning enterprise data outcomes beyond individual engineering tasks , with an understanding of architecture, platform strategy, operational support and cross-functional dependencies.
You’ll bring:
- Proven end-to-end ownership of enterprise Data & Analytics platforms.
- Experience leading large-scale data migration and transformation programs.
- Deep experience across Microsoft Azure data technologies , ideally including Data Lake, Data Factory, Azure SQL/Synapse and Databricks.
- Strong Databricks, SQL and data engineering capability.
- Advanced Power BI , including semantic modelling, DAX and performance optimisation.
- Strong understanding of lakehouse architecture, ETL/ELT, integration and data modelling.
- Experience reverse engineering complex or poorly documented legacy environments.
- Experience implementing DevOps, CI/CD and automation for data workloads.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineers in complex delivery environments.
Experience with Salesforce-related data migrations would be highly regarded.
The Prospect
This role will suit a senior technical leader who can remain close enough to the technology to challenge designs and solve complex problems, while also stepping back to understand the entire enterprise data platform and the downstream impact of technical decisions .
