Are you a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Oncologist looking for the opportunity to develop a service around your clinical interests?
An independent, purpose-built specialist and emergency hospital in Newcastle is seeking a Veterinary Oncologist to join its growing multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of oncology services within a hospital committed to clinical excellence, ethical medicine and genuine work-life balance.
The Hospital
The hospital has delivered specialist, referral and emergency care across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley and surrounding regions for more than 20 years.
Its newly opened, custom-designed facility includes:
- Two surgical theatres
- Eight consultation rooms
- A dedicated ICU
- Specialist diagnostic imaging with CT and ultrasound
- Separate wards for cats, exotic animals and infectious patients
- A comprehensive in-house laboratory
- An on-site pharmacy
- Dedicated spaces where staff can rest and recharge
You will work alongside clinicians across soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, rehabilitation, behaviour, ophthalmology and 24/7 emergency and critical care.
This multidisciplinary environment supports collaborative case management and integrated patient care. Sustainable rosters and healthy caseloads ensure specialists have the time, resources and clinical support needed to deliver excellent outcomes.
The Opportunity
The position can be shaped around the successful candidate’s experience, interests and preferred working pattern.
Whether you would like to lead and develop a new oncology service,
work within an established multidisciplinary referral team or combine clinical responsibilities with teaching interests, the hospital is open to creating a role that works for you.
Both full-time and part-time arrangements will be considered.

About You
You will be a qualified veterinarian with:
- A veterinary degree recognised for registration in Current South Wales, such as a BVSc, DVM or equivalent
- Board certification or completion of an approved residency in veterinary oncology
- A commitment to professional integrity and patient-centred care
- A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working
- A genuine interest in helping to build a meaningful and sustainable oncology service
