You will play a key role in the restart of a major underground silver-lead-zinc mine in Broken Hill, NSW. With mining scheduled to recommence in November 2026, you will join the technical services team during a critical ramp-up period, taking ownership of mine scheduling and drill and blast design to support the operation toward nameplate production.
Working within established systems and using Deswick, you will help translate the mine plan into practical production outcomes. You will work closely with the mining and technical services teams, supported by an established operation, while contributing to a fast-paced restart environment where your ability to hit the ground running will be highly valued.
This is an initial six-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension as the mine ramps toward full production. You will work an 8/6 back-to-back roster on day shift, with 11-hour days and FIFO/DIDO arrangements available. Accommodation will be provided in Broken Hill, with flights and transfers arranged for the duration of the contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain underground mine schedules in Deswick
- Support the mine ramp-up toward planned production targets
- Complete drill and blast designs for underground mining activities
- Monitor schedule performance and adjust plans as required
- Work closely with mining teams to coordinate production activities
- Provide practical technical input into mine planning and execution
- Support short- and medium-term planning activities as required
- Identify opportunities to improve production performance and sequencing
About you
- Underground hard-rock mining engineering experience
- Strong experience in production scheduling and mine planning
- Practical drill and blast design experience
- Working experience with Deswick is highly desirable
- Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced restart environment
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations and production
- Experience with remnant mining, restarts or ramp-ups is advantageous
- Sub-level open stoping or narrow-vein base metals experience is beneficial
- Comfortable working an 8/6 FIFO roster and 11-hour day shifts
