Salary range Grade 6: $131,053 - $175,373(this range is subject to increase following current EBA negotiations)

The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is the independent statutory authority responsible for regulating Victoria's teaching profession, helping to ensure quality teaching and the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

We're seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager to lead VIT's strategic approach to workplace safety, health and wellbeing.

About the role

Sitting within the People & Culture team, you will lead VIT's strategic, safety, health and wellbeing agenda and provide specialist advice and leadership across the organisation.

You will work closely with executives, senior leaders and key stakeholders to strengthen psychological safety, identify and manage psychosocial risks, build leadership capability and embed contemporary health, safety and wellbeing practices.

Combining strategic leadership with specialist expertise, you will use data, evidence and emerging best practice to identify organisational risks, and opportunities and develop initiatives that support a healthy, engaged and high performing workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

As our Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager you will:

- Develop and implement VIT'S Safety, Health and Wellbeing Strategy, frameworks and improvement initiatives.
- Lead psychological risk management, psychological health and wellbeing frameworks and practises.
- Provide expert advice on psychosocial hazards psychological safety and workplace wellbeing.
- Partner with leaders to build capability in psychologically safe leadership.
- Identify, assess and mitigate workplace health, safety and cycle psychosocial risks.




- Oversee injury prevention, rehabilitation and return to work programmes.
- Analyse safety, wellbeing and workforce data to identify trends and risks.
- Prepare reports and strategic advice for executives and governance bodies.
- Drive a proactive, preventative safety and wellbeing culture across VIT.

About you

You are a Strategic and experienced safety, health and wellbeing professional with strong expertise in Psychosocial risk and psychological well-being.

You bring the ability to influence leaders, translate complex issues into practical solutions, and use data to drive improvement.

- Extensive experience in this field.
- Have tertiary qualifications in Psychology (organisational, Health and/or Occupational Psychology or related discipline) alternatively, postgraduate qualifications will be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed and organisational psychology principles.
