About the Position:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Carrier and Commercial Manager to join our team. The purpose of the Carrier and Commercial Manager role is to manage and grow Premiair Freight's carrier and subcontractor network while driving the commercial performance of the freight operations. The role secures reliable, cost-effective linehaul and delivery capacity, negotiates competitive carrier rates and service agreements, and ensures that pricing, margins and customer commercial arrangements support the company's profitability and service excellence objectives. Working closely with the Senior Business Manager, Operations and Sales Teams, the position balances carrier procurement and performance management with commercial analysis, quoting and contract management to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and grow our national carrier and subcontractor network,



building strong commercial relationships across the freight industry.

- Identify and develop new carrier and service solutions to strengthen our freight offering and support business growth.

- Negotiate competitive carrier rates, fuel levies and service agreements.

- Manage carrier contracts, rate cards and renewals, ensuring accuracy in the TMS.

- Work closely with the Sales team to develop competitive freight solutions, pricing, quotes and tenders for new and existing customers.

- Analyse freight costs, buy/sell rates, margins and lane profitability to identify opportunities and drive profitable growth.

- Monitor carrier performance and service levels, proactively addressing issues and driving continuous improvement.

- Support Operations with carrier selection, capacity planning and cost-effective freight allocation across the network.

- Use your freight knowledge and commercial experience to identify new opportunities, improve our service offering and support the continued growth of PremiAir Freight.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who knows freight, understands the commercial side of the industry and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be confident building relationships, negotiating outcomes and finding solutions.

- 3+ years’ experience in freight, transport or logistics.

- Strong knowledge of the Australian road freight and carrier market.

- Experience in carrier management, rate negotiation and freight pricing.

- Strong sales and commercial acumen with a focus on growth and profitability.

- Confident communicator and relationship builder.

- Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable taking ownership.

- Excel experience highly regarded

- Experience with TMS and CRM system highly regarded
