About the Job
Our client is a highly respected, national law firm ranked among the largest in Australia, with a Banking & Finance practice that continues to grow on the back of sustained client demand. They are seeking a Lawyer with 1 to 3 years' post-admission experience in front-end banking and finance to join the Melbourne team, working directly with a well-regarded practice leader.
The work spans corporate finance, property and construction finance, fund finance, asset finance, receivables financing and PPSA advisory, on significant, complex matters that are both domestic and cross-border. There is regular collaboration with the Insolvency, Property and Corporate teams, and direct exposure to financial institutions and corporate borrowers on high-profile transactions.
The team is established, high-performing and genuinely invested in development, with a clear mandate to grow the Melbourne banking practice. Flexible working and a solid benefits program are on offer.
Responsibilities
- Act on front-end financing transactions across corporate, property and construction, fund, asset and receivables finance
- Draft and negotiate facility agreements,
security documents and ancillary transaction documentation
- Advise financial institutions and corporate borrowers on complex financing arrangements
- Provide PPSA and general finance advisory work across multiple sectors
- Manage transaction workstreams, including conditions precedent and completion processes
- Collaborate with the Insolvency, Property and Corporate practice groups on cross-team matters
- Build direct relationships with key clients and contribute to the growth of the Melbourne practice
Requirements
- 1 to 3 years' post-admission experience from a reputable banking and finance practice
- Strong technical skills in front-end transactional work
- Excellent drafting and negotiation abilities
- Commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic, client-focused advice
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
- Admission (or eligibility for admission) as a solicitor in Victoria
