Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural steel components and marine equipment
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to Australian Standards
- Carry out modifications and structural upgrades on naval vessels and dockside infrastructure
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Conduct cutting, grinding, gouging, and finishing of metal components
- Perform in office installations and fit-ups
- Undertake maintenance and shutdown works as required
- Complete quality checks to ensure work meets defence and project specifications
- Adhere strictly to WHS policies, site procedures, and safety regulations
- Work collaboratively within a team in a high-compliance environment
- Maintain clean and organised work areas
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualified Boilermaker (Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade)
- Demonstrated experience in heavy fabrication or marine/defence environments
- Proficient in multiple welding processes
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to pass medical, drug & alcohol screening
- Must be eligible to obtain site/security clearance (if required)
Desirable
- Confined Space & Working at Heights tickets
- EWP, Dogging or Rigging licences
- Previous experience working in shipyards or defence projects
