Our client is a growing, Cairns-based accounting and advisory firm that provides bookkeeping, taxation and business advisory services to SMEs across a broad range of industries. Operating as a 100% Xero practice, the firm is experiencing continued growth and is looking to add an experienced Bookkeeper to support its expanding client base.

This newly created position has arisen due to business growth. The Senior Bookkeeper is currently at capacity, and the firm's Accountant has also been assisting with bookkeeping responsibilities. You'll report directly to the Senior Bookkeeper and become an integral part of a collaborative team that values efficiency, technology and exceptional client service.

The Role:

- Provide bookkeeping and accounting support to approximately 80 business clients across a wide range of industries, including some with complex group structures

- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero

- Prepare and lodge BAS

- Process payroll for approximately 10 business clients

- Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable

- Assist clients with cloud accounting and best-practice bookkeeping processes

- Build strong client relationships while delivering accurate and timely services

- Report daily to the Senior Bookkeeper and work closely with the broader accounting team

About You:

- Minimum 2 years' bookkeeping experience, preferably within an Australian public practice accounting firm





- Strong practical experience using Xero

- Xero Certification will be highly regarded

- Tech-savvy with a genuine interest in cloud accounting and new technologies

- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines

- High attention to detail and strong communication skills

- Mature, proactive and client-focused approach

- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident only (no visa sponsorship available)
