About Your New Company
West Recruitment is proud to partner with an organisation undergoing a significant period of data transformation.
As the organisation expands its scheme and the volume of data it generates increases, there is a clear need to strengthen its data capability. This is a newly evolved opportunity for a Data Manager to take ownership of an immature data warehouse environment and help turn large volumes of data into reliable, meaningful business insights.
You will have the autonomy to improve the existing environment, establish stronger data foundations and build an internal capability that will support the organisation's next phase of growth.
About Your New Role
You will come from a background in data engineering and arrive in the business to take ownership of the organisation's data setting and reporting capability. Your immediate priority will be improving the data warehouse and establishing reliable, accessible data that the business can use with confidence. You will work across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Power Query, bringing new datasets into the environment, optimising existing data and developing a reporting layer that allows the organisation to better harness its data.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the data warehouse and Microsoft Fabric environment.
- Review, optimise and improve existing datasets.
- Bring additional datasets into the data lake.
- Investigate and resolve data quality and reliability issues.
- Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Use Power Query to extract,
transform and analyse data.
- Understand the backend data environment and how it supports reporting.
- Establish a scalable reporting layer across multiple datasets.
- Work with stakeholders to understand their data and reporting requirements.
- Partner with the commercial, scheme reporting and scheme pricing teams.
- Work with third-party providers delivering API capability.
- Help establish the data foundations for future automation, data mining and AI initiatives.
- Work closely with the Risk team on future fraud prevention and fraud analytics initiatives.
About You
You will be an experienced Data Manager, Data Engineer, Data Lead, BI Manager or senior data professional who is comfortable working across both data management and reporting. This is not a role for someone who only wants to build dashboards. You will need to understand what sits behind the dashboard and be comfortable getting into the data, identifying problems and improving the underlying environment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with data warehouses and data lakes.
- Strong understanding of data quality, data structures and data optimisation.
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical data and reporting solutions.
- Understanding of data integration, APIs or ETL processes.
- Robust Microsoft Fabric experience.
- Strong Power BI capability.
- Strong Power Query experience.
Most importantly, you will be curious. You will ask questions, challenge assumptions and want to understand how the data works and how it can be improved. You will also be a strong communicator who enjoys building relationships with stakeholders across the business.
