We are seeking an experienced Local HR Driver to join our team at Pendergast Northwest Freight Services in Narrabri, NSW. This is a full-time position based at our Narrabri depot, where you will be responsible for operating heavy rigid (HR) vehicles to transport freight on local routes throughout the region. As a key member of our transport team, you will play an essential role in ensuring our clients receive their goods safely, on time and in excellent condition. This role is fundamental to our operations and directly contributes to our reputation for reliability and service excellence.

Key responsibilities
- Operating heavy rigid vehicles to transport freight on designated local routes within the Narrabri region and surrounding areas
- Conducting pre and post-trip vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements
- Loading, unloading and securing freight in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, including documentation and consignment notes
- Adhering strictly to road safety regulations, speed limits and workplace health and safety requirements
- Communicating effectively with dispatch, management and clients regarding delivery status and any issues that arise
- Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanour with clients and members of the public at all times
- Keeping the vehicle clean and maintaining it in good working order throughout your shifts
- Contributing to a safety-conscious workplace culture and participating in safety briefings and training
What we're looking for
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR)
Class Licence held for a minimum of 3 years
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) or National Driver Training and Certification Programme (NDTCP) or equivalent for heavy vehicle drivers
- Demonstrated experience operating heavy rigid vehicles in local or regional transport roles
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, fatigue management rules and transport legislation
- Excellent safety record with a commitment to safe driving practices and workplace safety
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including manual handling of freight
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet delivery schedules
- Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with robust communication skills
- Working knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and pre-trip inspection procedures
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for your vehicle and cargo
