An Australian engineering and manufacturing organisation specialising in advanced processing, inspection, and automation equipment is seeking a Mechanical Service Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial equipment across customer sites.

Based in Brisbane, the role offers varied hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and exposure to a broad range of equipment. The position involves predominantly day-shift work with approximately 18 days of travel per year and no on-call roster, providing a strong balance of field service experience and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and electromechanical industrial equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and identify practical solutions efficiently while working on customer sites.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, service documentation, and equipment specifications.
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities to ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, testing, and breakdown response as required.
- Work across a broad range of equipment and OEM technologies, developing strong technical versatility.
- Liaise directly with customers to understand equipment issues and provide professional technical support.
- Complete service reports,



maintenance records, and technical documentation accurately.
- Work closely with engineering, service, and customer teams to resolve technical issues.
- Travel to customer sites across Brisbane, Queensland, and occasionally interstate as required.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, workmanship, and customer service at all times.

Requirements

- Mechanical trade qualification, ideally Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade / Fitter & Turner, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance, field service, machinery, or industrial equipment.
- Robust mechanical aptitude with confidence working on tools, machinery, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and service documentation.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and practical problem-solving skills.
- Technically curious and able to learn and adapt to unfamiliar equipment and systems.
- Comfortable working independently on customer sites and collaboratively with technical teams.
- Eligibility to obtain an ESO / restricted electrical licence, with training provided.
- Experience with industrial automation, manufacturing, processing, packaging, or complex production equipment is desirable but not essential.
- Australian work rights required.
