East Malvern RSL is seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager Operations to oversee the day‑to‑day management of the Club and work closely with the Committee to deliver operational excellence, improved strong and sustainable financial performance and an enjoyable member experience.
This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to an experienced manager who thrives in hospitality, clubs, entertainment or community‑based organisations.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Committee, you will be responsible for the overall operational performance of the Club, including:
- Managing daily venue operations including interfacing closely with any food and beverage provider engaged by the Club
- Working closely with Club volunteers
- Overseeing delivery of exceptional service standards for Members and guests
- Managing Club budgets, reporting and financial performance
- Driving revenue growth through the Club's membership growth and increased engagement with local organisations, community groups and stakeholders and assisting the Club's food & beverage provider in a manner consistent with Club and RSL rules and ethos
- Identifying both directly and through volunteers, securing and managing grant funding opportunities to improve Club operations, facilities, infrastructure and veteran welfare initiatives
- Developing, delivering and reporting on programs that support the welfare and wellbeing of current and former service personnel, including securing funding, partnerships and revenue streams to maximise member benefits
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
- Maintaining workplace health and safety standards
- Building strong relationships with members, veterans, suppliers, ex‑service organisations and community stakeholders
- Supporting strategic initiatives and Club development opportunities
About You
You are a confident, observant and capable leader with strong operational and commercial experience. You enjoy working with people, creating positive experiences for members and guests and are interested in helping make a positive difference to the welfare of community members needy of assistance.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in a senior management role within hospitality, clubs and entertainment or a related industry
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Demonstrated financial management and budgeting experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- An observant, proactive, can‑do, solutions‑focused approach
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Experience working directly with Boards or Committees and associated governance structures will be highly regarded
- Current Victorian RSA
- Sound understanding of compliance requirements within a liquor licensed venue
