This position assists the Assistant State Litigator (General Litigation) to provide civil legal advice and litigation services to the State and its Agencies by acting as a lawyer, including appearing as required, as counsel.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight- flexible options available.
Duties
- To act as Solicitor and Counsel in routine,
complex and critical civil matters and appeals on behalf of the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and agencies before a range of courts and tribunals.
- To provide comprehensive, accurate and timely advice to the State and its agencies in respect of civil law matters.
- To provide qualified supervision, direction and instruction as may be required to junior legal practitioners.
- To participate in performance management and file reviews as directed by the Assistant State Litigator.
- Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Registration Status - Employment).
- A minimum of seven years relevant experience.
- Drivers licence.
