We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Rates Officer to provide short-term operational support to a busy Rating Services team during the peak rates period. This role will assist in maintaining service levels and ensuring a high standard of customer service is delivered while managing increased volumes of enquiries and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Rating Services team
- Respond to customer enquiries relating to rates and property information
- Process rates administration transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain and update records within council systems
- Assist with the preparation and processing of rates notices and associated documentation
- Support the team in managing increased workloads during the peak rates period
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as required
- Ensure compliance with council policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
About You
- Experience in rates administration or a similar administrative role
- Previous local government experience (highly regarded)
- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite and corporate systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workplace and manage competing priorities
