Maintenance Team Leader

We are a leading Australian Food Manufacturing facility in the Northern suburbs seeking an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to lead the Maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of both reactive and preventative maintenance duties to a high standard. You will successfully achieve these outcomes by coordinating the Maintenance Team and contract tradespersons and carrying out maintenance tasks.

You will also be responsible for building strong relationships across all departments and with external contractors at our food manufacturing facility.

The role The primary objective in this role is to manage all aspects of the Maintenance Team, allocation work orders to team members, coordinate and approve of maintenance and fabrication activities, continuous improvement, and ensure compliance and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities include:

- Project coordination of ongoing planned maintenance and acting as an escalation point when required for any unplanned maintenance requests.
- Ensuring that effective continuity of supply is provided to customers.
- Ensuring that assets used are maintained according to internal procedures and accounted for.
- Focus on continuous improvement and customer experience.
- Identification of cost savings within the division to enhance financial and productivity aspects.
- Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.




- Manage planned and breakdown maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment to reduce plant downtime using maintenance plans, robust performance measurement tools, and ongoing improvement plans to ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out and plan in missed maintenance activities.
- Ensure that all maintenance functions meet relevant OHS legislation and that all department workers adhere to the safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all maintenance functions meet relevant Food Safety requirements.
- Develop and design new ways/tools/assets to improve productivity and cut costs.
- Manage the team to ensure machine availability based on Production Plan
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value, and continuous improvements.
- Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment, and replacement parts from drawing up the specification to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.




- Contribute to recent business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities.
- Drive performance, accountability, and engagement within the Maintenance Team

Requirements

About you

- Experience leadership role within FMCG or similar in a food manufacturing facility would be preferred.
- Degree and/or Certificate or diploma in relevant trade in a related field
- Strong demonstrated experience performing high-quality maintenance on plant, machines, equipment, and fittings in a food manufacturing or related industry and environment.
- Innovative, driven, and action-orientated – the ability to consistently produce information in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience delivering successful projects in both equipment improvement and process improvement within FMCG organizations.
- Excellent knowledge of best practice processes and ways of working within FMCG maintenance functions including planning and scheduling, task allocation, inventory store management,
- Strong deductive and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Relevant trade qualification or assessed competence in Fitting and Turning and certificates to perform work when required.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings.
- Able to work effectively across various teams through effective interpersonal communication and problem-solving/ analytical skills.
- Competent with relevant computer and software packages
